# Embracing Internationality and the Global Market - Savonia AMK

## Overview
Savonia UAS recently hosted its annual International Week, transforming the Iisalmi campus into a hub of cultural exchange, learning, and collaboration. Over two exciting days, we welcomed around 20 international guests each day from across Europe, including Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Kosovo, Lithuania, and Austria. This cherished tradition offered students, staff, and guests a unique opportunity to connect, share ideas, and engage in enriching discussions and activities.

## The Global Market Event
On Wednesday, first-year agriculture students, together with Multipro students, organized a fascinating Global Market event. They proudly showcased their cultures through music, dance, games, food, and presentations, creating a lively and enriching atmosphere.

*   **Austrian Contributions:** Multipro students introduced traditional games, including a competition to hold a full glass (water) with a straight arm for the longest duration.
*   **Culinary Experiences:** Students from France and Kosovo provided a diverse selection of traditional cuisine.
*   **Cultural Heritage:** Kosovo students showcased traditional clothing from three different regions, and a Slovenian student delivered an energetic presentation on her culture.
*   **Finnish Traditions:** Finnish students introduced guests to scouting traditions, native cattle breeds, Finnish-made agricultural machinery, the Midsummer celebration, and the Wife Carrying Competition.
*   **Finnish Specialties:** Attendees sampled blueberry pie, silver toffee, bread cheese, and lingonberry juice.

## Workshops and Comprehensive Security
Following the Global Market, guests participated in workshops aligned with the theme of "Comprehensive Security." Topics included:
*   Food Security
*   Work and Health Safety on Farms
*   Social Resilience Towards Dramatic Shifts

The day concluded with a joint dinner at the Iisalmi campus canteen, featuring traditional Finnish dishes prepared by students from Ylä-Savon Ammattiopisto.

## Technology and AI Innovation
Thursday featured workshop sessions and demonstrations of cutting-edge technology provided by the Kuopio Campus Digi Center, including VR games, robotic dogs, and AI innovations.

*   **Agriculture:** Drones are utilized for monitoring field conditions, resource allocation, livestock management, and locating animals. AI-powered systems in tractors assist in precision farming.
*   **Robotics:** Robotic dogs are used in hazardous or difficult environments to collect samples, pick up litter, and locate items.
*   **Social Services:** Multipro students explored how AI technology could revolutionize social services, specifically regarding care, accessibility, and support.

## Conclusion
The International Week was a success, providing students with valuable experiences and fresh perspectives. We look forward to strengthening these international connections in future events.
