# Initiating the Future Health HUB Project - Savonia AMK

> This article kicks off a series of publications detailing the progress of the three-year Future Health HUB (FHH) project.

## Project Overview
The Future Health HUB (FHH) project (1.8.2023 – 31.12.2025) is funded by Team Finland Knowledge (TFK) in collaboration with Savonia University of Applied Sciences and Instituto Superior de Ciências de Saúde (ISCISA).

The project aims to develop the FHH model, which facilitates multicultural, community-oriented projects for healthcare students. This model provides both physical (learning centers) and virtual (e-learning platform) environments at both universities. Service design methodology is utilized in the creation of the FHH model, with all student activities being curriculum- and evidence-based.

## Workshop and Service Design
In April 2024, a workshop was held at ISCISA University in Maputo, Mozambique, to focus on developing study-related internships. A key focus was on families’ preparedness and knowledge regarding child development. 

Participants developed a service path—ranging from reaching out to pregnant mothers at hospitals to engaging students in monitoring child development and conducting home visits—using collaborative idea exchange. The path was tested using the **bodystorming method**, allowing participants to verify functionality and identify necessary adjustments. This model will be piloted and refined in the coming months based on feedback from students and teachers.

## Teacher Collaboration and Multicultural Learning
The partnership between Savonia and ISCISA facilitates:
*   Joint methodology for implementing pilots.
*   Unique insights into local nursing education.
*   Exposure to diverse healthcare practices and needs.
*   Enhanced multicultural skills for both teachers and students.
*   Promotion of sustainable development and intercultural understanding.

## Evidence-Based Practice and Library Services
Evidence-based practice (EBP) is integral to the FHH project. Savonia’s library plays an active role in ensuring students at both universities receive guidance in finding evidence-based information, with a focus on:
*   Open Educational Resources (OER).
*   Reliable open-access materials.
*   Curated resources on the Edunia platform.

During the workshop, Savonia’s information specialist collaborated with ISCISA’s faculty to align research methods training, including database usage (Medline, PubMed) and thesis process support. Establishing a dedicated contact person at ISCISA will ensure both universities are equipped to support EBP in their curricula.
