# Chasing Dreams in Finland: My Journey into IoT and Cybersecurity – George’s Student Story

> Engineering student George shares his experience studying Information Technology at Savonia University of Applied Sciences.

## Introduction
Hi there, I am George from Sri Lanka. I am studying Bachelor of Engineering, Information Technology (Internet of Things) at Savonia UAS.

I started my studies at the end of this September, after summer. I decided to apply for the IoT Bachelor’s Degree at Savonia because I already have a cybersecurity degree from my home country, so I basically want to combine the knowledge of IoT and cybersecurity and do something meaningful for the world.

## Studying at Savonia
Studying at Savonia is like a dream of mine. Everything is perfect — we have all the smart classrooms with IoT equipment, cameras, etc.

Currently, I am studying six subjects:
* Basic Finnish
* Basic Programming
* Industrial IoT and Digital Health Ecosystems
* IT Applications and Skills
* Mathematics 1
* Multicultural Studies
* Physics

## Life in Finland
Adjusting to living in Finland is a bit hard because most things are quite expensive compared to my home country, but they are of the best quality. Also, the weather changes in Finland are quite noticeable. I came to Finland in July when it was summer, and now it’s close to November — it’s getting dark and cold.

## Future Plans and Advice
Talking about my plans after graduation, I think if I get a profession in the field I am looking for, I would go for it. As for advice, I would like to say: take your studies seriously, especially Finnish, because learning Finnish will be a lifesaver in Finland.
