# Coronavirus information - Savonia AMK

> This information was last updated on 7.2.2022. Savonia UAS wishes to ensure the health and safety of staff, students and partners during the coronavirus pandemic.

## General Guidelines
Savonia actively monitors and follows the official recommendations aimed at reducing the coronavirus spread and risk of infection. In spite of the pandemic, Savonia arranges its operations to ensure the progress of studies for all students.

* **Symptoms:** Persons with symptoms of a respiratory infection (cold, cough, fever) are not allowed on campus.
* **Hygiene:** Follow good hand hygiene, cover coughs, and maintain cleanliness.
* **Vaccinations:** Savonia strongly recommends all students and staff to get full coverage of the Covid-19 vaccinations.
* **Masks:** Savonia recommends the use of masks on campus and provides them free of charge.

## Teaching and Campus Operations
During weeks 7-9, the aim is for all groups to have part of the teaching as contact teaching on campuses.
* Contact teaching, simulation teaching, workshop teaching, thesis supervision, and small group meetings are arranged on campuses.
* Campuses are open for independent study and services.
* Large-scale events are held only if corona restrictions allow.

## Internships and Study Rights
* **Internships:** Internships should continue whenever the workplace and training provider consider the environment safe. Changes in internship periods are likely and should be agreed upon with your training supervisor.
* **Social and Health Care Students:** A separate instruction has been made for students in this field.
* **Extended Study Rights:** If graduation is delayed due to reasons independent of the student (e.g., cancelled practical training), the extension can exceptionally be continued. Contact the Manager of Student Services, Anne Koskela (anne.koskela@savonia.fi), before the end of your extended study right.

## International Mobility
* **Student Exchange:** Exchange is possible within Europe and to countries where the security level is deemed sufficient.
* **Travel Responsibility:** It is the responsibility of the student to check the Ministry for Foreign Affairs’ travel bulletins, entry regulations, and national restrictions. Trips are not made to countries where the Ministry urges to avoid unnecessary travel.
* **Vaccination:** THL recommends that all travelers abroad obtain full corona vaccination protection.
* **Incoming Students:** Foreign degree students are welcome if they have received their residence permits. Distance learning is available for those who started in autumn 2021 and cannot receive a permit due to the Covid-19 situation.
* **Arrival:** Students arriving at Savonia must fill in the [Arrival form for degree students](https://www.savonia.fi).

## Health and Support
* **Help Line:** If you have respiratory symptoms, do not enter a health care center or hospital before calling the Coronavirus help line: 044 704 6700.
* **Risk Groups:** If you belong to a risk group and cannot participate in on-campus teaching, contact your study counselor by email and provide documentation (e.g., a doctor’s statement) to arrange distance/self-study options.
* **Well-being:** If you feel worried or stressed, contact the welfare counsellor, school chaplains, or health care services.
* **Sports:** SYKETTÄ Sports Services follow national and local authority guidelines. Visit the [SYKETTÄ webpage](https://www.savonia.fi) for current information.
