# Finnish higher education institutions’ joint Opin.fi service is now open

> Opin.fi is a joint service of Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences with a diverse selection of open higher education studies on a single site.

## Overview
Opin.fi is a joint service of Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences where open studies are within easy reach. The service makes it easier for you to find open studies that suit you among Finnish higher education institutions’ large selection. The new service is now available to everyone interested in developing their competence, with 29 Finnish higher education institutions already joined.

## Purpose and Accessibility
The service is designed to help anyone who wants to develop their competence at different life stages, whether driven by working life needs, personal interests, or a desire to change careers. The service offers studies in different fields and forms, without requiring prior university studies.

## Features and Functionality
* **Search and Filtering:** Users can browse and compare extensive study offers in one place. Filters allow users to search by learning mode (remote vs. contact teaching) and pace (self-paced vs. set schedule).
* **Thematic Learning:** The service features ten themes, including sustainable development, new technologies, and transforming working life.
* **Diverse Content:** Beyond traditional courses, the service offers podcasts and webinars for those who do not wish to complete credits.
* **User Accounts:** Identified users can view previously completed higher education studies and save interesting study options for later. Actual enrolment takes place in the universities’ own services.

## Future Development
Opin.fi has been developed in collaboration with all Finnish higher education institutions and future users. Development will continue post-launch, with future plans including the introduction of smart recommendations based on user information.

## Scope and Participation
As of the April 2025 launch, 29 Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences are participating. The goal is to include the open studies of 37 higher education institutions by the end of the year, covering studies in Finnish, Swedish, and English, offered as both contact and distance learning.

## Administration
The Digivision 2030 project is responsible for building the service, and it is operated by HigherEd Hub Finland Oy.
