# Technology Management Studies Support Ismo Leivo’s Career at FinVector: “Studying Brings a New Kind of Capital”

> Ismo Leivo, a Logistics Team Lead at FinVector, shares how pursuing a Master’s Degree in Engineering at Savonia University of Applied Sciences enhances his professional skills and career development.

## Returning to Studies
Ismo Leivo had been considering pursuing a Master’s degree for some time, but he wanted to wait for the right moment to continue his studies. When both his career and life outside of work settled into balance, he applied to Savonia University of Applied Sciences to study for a Master’s Degree in Engineering.

“I simply want to develop my skills so I can perform my job even better. In addition, studying brings me a new kind of personal capital,” Leivo says regarding his decision to return to education.

## Background and Student Experience
Leivo is an alumnus of Savonia, having graduated as a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical and Production Technology in 2008. He fondly remembers the sense of community among his classmates and his internship abroad.

“I spent four months in Budapest, Hungary, and travelled widely across Europe. Going abroad was a great experience. Opportunities like that don’t often come after graduation,” Leivo notes.

## Professional Role at FinVector
Leivo currently works as a Logistics Team Lead at FinVector. His responsibilities include managing operations, ensuring the daily production schedule is followed, and continuously developing warehouse operations in accordance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) requirements. He and his team oversee material reception, picking, storage, and shipments.

He expresses pride in his team, particularly regarding their work in developing and implementing warehouse operations in FinVector’s new Finport building. “I don’t make all the decisions myself. We do things together. We have a great team with excellent spirit and a wide range of expertise,” he says.

## Impact of Higher Education
Leivo highlights that his Master’s studies have provided tangible benefits to his career. By completing projects for real companies, he gained practical experience and established important professional contacts.

Because he is able to complete his Master’s thesis and other study projects at FinVector, his employer directly benefits from the development work he conducts. He already has a clear vision for his thesis topic.

## Advice for Students
Reflecting on his journey, Leivo encourages current students to maximize the opportunities provided by their education:

“Networking during your studies is important. It’s worth getting involved with the business world already while studying, because you never know where new connections and experiences may lead later.”
