# The Neptune Project is Ready to Impact the Whole World

> Six talented students from five countries arrived in Lucerne, Switzerland, on Friday, March 17th, and is already preparing to create an impact in this world!

## Project Overview
The Neptune Project, led by project leader Jarkko Surakka and Savonia University of Applied Sciences, has officially begun. Sponsored by Genelec, the project aims to create the "Urban soundscape Neptune 2023" in Lucerne, capturing the essence of urban life in a creative and innovative way.

Participating universities have each sent six of their best students and supervisors. The students represent diverse academic backgrounds, including civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and architecture.

## Participating Teams and Supervisors
Upon arrival, students were organized into teams, each paired with an assigned supervisor:

*   **Team Schwanenplatz:** Supervised by Jarkko Surakka (Savonia University of Applied Sciences)
*   **Team Pilatusplatz:** Supervised by Elsa Brailly & Rafika Ben Haj Slama (ECAM Lasalle)
*   **Team Inseli:** Led by Hans Schaeffer (NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences)
*   **Team Bahnhofplatz:** Supervised by Peter Schwehr (HSLU Hochschule Luzern)
*   **Team Weinmarkt:** Led by Marko Jausovec (University of Maribor)

## Project Goals and Assessment
Students are tasked with creating a unique auditory environment that artistically encapsulates the spirit of city living. This 10-day project serves as an opportunity for students to showcase their skills and collaborate internationally. 

At the conclusion of the project, a jury of experts from the participating universities and the sponsor, Genelec—including CEO Siamäk Naghian—will assess the projects to determine the best one. Saireen Shupti, the project assistant from Savonia University of Applied Sciences, is managing the PR for Neptune 2023.

## Inspiration and Development
To initiate the project, students attended keynote speeches by Swiss professional musician Balthasar Streiff, who provided insights into the world of music and soundscapes. Additionally, the students conducted site visits throughout Lucerne to gather inspiration for their work.
