# Tuition Fees for Bachelor Programmes - Savonia AMK

## Overview of Tuition Fees
The legislation concerning tuition fees came into effect on 1 January 2016. Universities of Applied Sciences are obliged to charge tuition fees for students who are not citizens of countries of the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA) and who start their degree studies on or after 1 August 2017. This applies to degree programmes conducted in English.

*   **Standard Tuition Fee:** 9700 euros per academic year for students starting after 1 January 2025.
*   **Payment Terms:** Fees must be paid in full by the set deadline. Failure to pay results in the loss of the study place. Installments are not permitted for the first academic year.

## Early Bird Policy
The Early Bird tuition fee is **7760 euros** for the 1st academic year. To qualify, a student must:
1. Confirm the study place within 7 days of acceptance.
2. Pay the full 7760 euros within 14 days of acceptance.

If the student confirms within 7 days but fails to pay within 14 days, or confirms after 7 days, the full fee of 9700 euros applies.

## Payment Deadlines (Full Fee)
For those paying the 9700 euro fee:
*   **Accepted in March, April, or May:** Deadline is 31 July 2025.
*   **Accepted in June, July, or August:** Deadline is 26 August 2025.

## Payment via Flywire
Savonia UAS partners with Flywire for international payments.
1. Click the appropriate payment link (Early Bird or Full Fee).
2. Select your country/region.
3. Select a payment method (bank transfer, credit card, e-wallet, etc.).
4. Provide payer details and student details (name, DOB, email, programme).
5. Review, confirm, and make the payment.
6. Track the status via your Flywire account.

## Scholarship Scheme
Savonia UAS does not grant scholarships for the 1st academic year. For the 2nd year and onwards, scholarships are based on study success and Finnish language skills (covering up to 30% of the fee).

*   **Statutory Study Time:** Scholarships are only granted for statutory study time (3.5 years for 210 credits; 4 years for 240 credits).
*   **Ukrainian Students:** A full scholarship is granted to Ukrainian degree students based on humanitarian reasons.

## Exemptions from Tuition Fees
The fee is not charged for:
*   EU/EEA citizens.
*   Holders of a European Union Blue Card in Finland.
*   Holders of a permanent residence permit (type P) in Finland.
*   Holders of a continuous residence permit (type A) for purposes other than studies.
*   Persons under temporary protection in Finland.
*   Holders of a long-term resident’s EU residence permit (type P-EU).
*   Holders of an EU Family Member’s Residence Card in Finland.

*Note: Residence permits granted specifically for the purpose of studying do not qualify for exemption.*

## Refund Policy
For students starting after 1 January 2026, a 15% administrative fee is deducted from any refund. Refunds are processed if:
*   A negative residence permit decision is received before studies start (by 31 July).
*   The student fails to register as present or absent by 31 August.
*   The student resigns or graduates before the next semester begins (refund applies to the upcoming semester's fee).

## Living Expenses and Additional Costs
*   **Proof of Funds:** The Finnish Immigration Service requires proof of 9,600 EUR per year in a bank account for residence permit applications.
*   **Living Costs:** Estimated at 900 – 1200 EUR per month.
*   **Other Costs:** Students are responsible for books, educational materials, a personal laptop, insurance, and travel/living expenses.
