Multipro students can select studies from three different degree programmes. The curriculum is divided into core and specialised studies. The core studies are multidisciplinary and offered for all the MultiPro students regardless the field of study. Professional studies you can select according to your interest and study field.

Teaching methods include The students present the results of their learning outcomes in the MultiPro final seminar. An eLearning platform Moodle is used in teaching and communication. Several other digital tools are used, too.

Practical assistance including tutoring, guidance counseling as well as the free-of-charge and extended hours availability of computer facilities are provided for students to ease the transition into study life.

There are about 1 000 students and nearly 65 staff members on the Iisalmi campus. The expertise of teaching lies on strong knowledge of the educational field connected to practice. This module is a result of the development work and emphasis on international studies.

Studying

At Savonia, you can study in three degree programmes: Social Services, Nursing, and Agriculture and Rural Industries. The curriculum is divided into core studies which are common for each degree programmes and specialised studies. We offer a great variety of different study methods, such as:

  • Lectures
  • Teamwork
  • eLearning (eLearning platform Moodle)
  • Project studies
  • Excursions

Tutoring

At Savonia, tutoring and student guidance is provided to help students in various practical matters, to ease the study process, and to help them utilise the available teaching resources in the best possible way. The students receive guidance from the supervisor of the new group, tutors and heads of the degree programmes, lecturers and the office staff.

An introduction is arranged for new full-time students at the beginning of each academic year. The aim is to introduce the school and its degree programmes to the students and to help them deal with different practical issues.

For exchange students, there are also tutor students. The tutor students are the students of Savonia UAS who have volunteered to assist exchange students after their arrival. They help exchange students in completing necessary forms, etc. Tutor students may also help the exchange students in finding leisure time and social activities.

Accomodation

How to find accommodation?

Savonia helps you to find a room in Iisalmi after we have received your request for accommodation. Companies providing student housing are private organisations and they are not owned by Savonia. You can rent a room either from these companies, from private flat owners or from Hostel Iisalmi.

Petterinkulma Oy

The rooms have no equipment. You can share the room with somebody or have a room of your own. The kitchen and the bathroom are shared. There are usually two to four rooms in one unit. Coin-operated laundry facilities are also available. Students are responsible for the cleaning of their rooms. The rent is 200-300 € per month and you should be prepared to pay two months’ rent beforehand. The houses are situated 1-3 kilometres from the school. Hostel Iisalmi

You can stay in Hostel Iisalmi, which is situated in the centre of the town about 2,5 kilometres from the school. The modest rooms are equipped with furniture and bedclothes. You share the kitchen and bathrooms with others. The kitchen is equipped with cooking utensils. The rent is about 200-300 € per month depending on the size of the room and the numbers of guests per room. Guests staying for a longer period take care of the cleaning of the rooms by themselves.
