# Separate Application Based on Previous Studies – Savonia UAS

> If you have an unfinished degree from a Finnish higher education institution or have previous studies from a Finnish Open UAS or Open University, you may be able to apply to Savonia based on your previous studies.

## Study Right Based on Previous Studies

You can apply to Savonia UAS in the separate application if you have completed previous studies in a Finnish UAS or university and if you fulfill one of the cases below. Studies may have been completed at a Finnish UAS, university, Open UAS, or Open University, but they cannot be part of a completed degree or active study right.

1. You have completed 60 ECTS for a bachelor’s degree at Savonia Open UAS (Open path studies), and you want to become a degree student.
2. You have completed 10 ECTS (60 credits’ degree) or 30 ECTS (90 credits’ degree) for a master’s degree at Savonia UAS, and you want to become a degree student.
3. You have an unfinished bachelor’s/master’s degree and you have completed all the studies missing from the degree at Savonia Open UAS. You can graduate immediately.
4. You have completed in a Finnish UAS or University 60 ECTS or more for a bachelor’s degree and are applying to become a degree student. Completed studies can be, for example, part of an unfinished bachelor’s degree.
5. You have completed in a Finnish UAS or University 10 ECTS (60 credits’ degree) or 30 ECTS (90 credits’ degree) for a master’s degree and are applying to become a degree student. Completed studies can be, for example, part of an unfinished master’s degree.

If you do not fulfill any of the above-mentioned cases, you may apply to Savonia UAS in the Joint application period. If you have a valid degree study right at some Finnish UAS or University and want to apply for transfer to Savonia UAS, please see instructions on how to apply for transfer.

## Application Periods

*   **1 April – 30 September:** If accepted, studies begin in the autumn term.
*   **1 October – 28 February:** If accepted, studies begin in the spring term.

The application form is available at [Studyinfo](https://studyinfo.fi). Before applying, ensure you fulfill one of the grounds for applying and have all necessary attachments ready to upload.

## Decision on Application

Applications are processed within one month of receipt. Please monitor your email for requests for additional information. Applications are not handled during holidays (weeks 10 and 42, summer, and Christmas).

If granted, you have 7 days to confirm the study place. If not granted, you will be informed via email.

## Application Requirements by Case

### Bachelor's Degree (Open Path)
*   You may apply as soon as you have completed 60 credits at Savonia Open UAS.
*   No attachments are required; studies are verified via the student management system.
*   If applying immediately after completion, study right is granted. If applying later, eligibility and curriculum alignment will be assessed.

### Master's Degree (Open Path)
*   You may apply as soon as you have completed 10/30 credits at Savonia Open UAS.
*   You must submit copies of certificates proving eligibility (suitable bachelor’s/master’s degree and at least 2 years of work experience).
*   Check specific requirements on the [Savonia UAS website](https://savonia.fi).
*   Note: This criteria does not apply to the Master’s degree programme in Digital Health.

### Unfinished Degree (Other Finnish UAS/University)
*   If studies were completed at Savonia UAS, no attachments are required. If completed elsewhere, submit copies of transcripts.
*   For master’s degrees, submit proof of eligibility (degree and 2 years of work experience).
*   Studies are assessed by the student counsellor.
*   You must have at least 60 credits that can be included in the degree programme. You must compare your studies to the current curriculum and provide a preliminary study plan with course-specific links or descriptions. Curricula are available on the [Savonia UAS website](https://savonia.fi).

## Important Provisions

*   **One study place per term:** If granted a study place, you cannot accept another study place leading to a higher education degree in Finland during the same academic term.
*   **Legislation on aptitude:** Specific requirements apply to health care, social services, humanities, physical exercise, and maritime navigation regarding safety, health, and functional capacity. This includes potential criminal record checks, drug testing, and vaccination requirements.

## Tuition Fees

Savonia UAS collects tuition fees from non-EU/EEA students.
*   Standard fee: 9,700 euros per academic year.
*   Separate application fee (1st year): 7,760 euros.
*   Spring semester start: 3,880 euros.
*   Fees must be paid within 14 days of admission.

## Health Care Services

Degree students are entitled to services from the [Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS/YTHS)](https://yths.fi). Students must pay the FSHS healthcare fee to Kela on their own initiative.
