# Separate Application for Immigrants - Savonia AMK

> Have you completed a preparatory programme for higher education studies for immigrants? Do you wish to continue your studies in Bachelor-level and to complete a degree?

## Degree Studies for Immigrants
In the separate application for immigrants, it is now possible for you to apply for a study place at Savonia UAS. You can apply to either Finnish or English degree programmes. Your studies will begin in January 2027 or autumn 2027 depending on the degree programme.

## Eligibility Requirements
You can apply in this application if you have completed:

**A degree which gives eligibility for higher education studies, for example:**
* Vocational upper secondary qualification in Finland
* Finnish Matriculation examination
* Upper secondary degree, completed outside Finland, which gives eligibility for higher education studies in the awarding country
* Higher education degree completed in Finland or outside Finland

**AND**

* A preparatory programme for higher education studies for immigrants covering at least 30 ECTS credits in a Finnish University of Applied Sciences.

**Important Notes:**
* If you have completed a sectoral, discipline-based preparatory education (business, social and health care, or technology), you may apply only to degree programmes of the field in question.
* If you have completed a multi-disciplinary preparatory education, you may apply to any of the degree programmes.
* If you have completed the preparatory education in English, you may apply only to degree programmes conducted in English.
* If you have not completed a preparatory programme for higher education studies for immigrants in Finland, you are not eligible to apply in this application; please apply via the joint application.

## Application Periods
* **Studies starting January 2027:** 1 August 2026 – 30 November 2026
* **Studies starting autumn 2027:** 1 August 2026 – 31 July 2027

Applications are handled in the order of arrival, once a month. If study places in a programme are filled, it is no longer possible to apply to that programme.

## The One Study Right Rule
As of 1 August 2026, a student’s study rights at the same or lower level will be terminated if they accept a new study right leading to a degree. For more information, visit Studyinfo.

## Student Selection Criteria
Selection is based on study success in the preparatory programme:
1. Grade average of preparatory programme studies (minimum 2)
2. Grade average of Finnish language courses (15 credits, minimum 3)
3. Mathematics grade (minimum 2)

**Scoring:**
* Grade 5 = 5 points
* Grade 4 = 4 points
* Grade 3 = 3 points
* Grade 2 = 2 points
* Grade 1 = 0 points

## Additional Requirements and Fees
* **English Proficiency:** Applicants to English programmes must provide a separate English language certificate as per the requirements of the spring 2027 Joint Application (see UASinfo).
* **Application Fee:** Non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens must pay a 100 euro application fee. This fee is non-refundable.
* **Tuition Fees:** Savonia UAS charges 9,700 euros per academic year for non-EU/EEA citizens studying in English-taught programmes. 

**Exemptions from tuition fees apply to:**
* Citizens of EU/EEA countries or Switzerland (or family members with a residence card).
* Holders of a permanent (type P) residence permit in Finland.
* Holders of a long-term resident’s EU residence permit (type P-EU).
* Holders of a residence permit based on temporary protection.
* Holders of an EU Blue Card in Finland.
* Holders of a residence permit under the withdrawal agreement (Brexit).
* Holders of a continuous (type A) residence permit based on employment (if the first permit was not based on studies).
* Holders of a continuous (type A) residence permit based on family ties (if the first permit was not based on studies).
