# Transfer Study right to Savonia UAS

> If you are a degree student at a Finnish University or a University of Applied Sciences, you can apply for transfer to an equivalent programme at Savonia UAS.

## Transfer Application
If you are registered as a degree student at a Finnish University or University of Applied Sciences, you might be able to apply for a transfer to Savonia UAS.

You may apply for a transfer:
* To Savonia University of Applied Sciences (UAS) if you are registered as a degree student at a Finnish University or University of Applied Sciences.
* To another degree programme in Savonia UAS, if you are registered as a degree student in Savonia UAS.

### Important Eligibility Notes
* If you are not registered as a degree student in a Finnish University or University of Applied Sciences, or if you are studying in a University outside Finland, you are not eligible to apply for a transfer to Savonia UAS.
* If you are studying in a tailor-made education in a Finnish University or University of Applied Sciences, you are not eligible to apply for a transfer. You may apply to Savonia UAS in the Joint application period.
* You can apply for a transfer to any Savonia UAS degree programme; it does not have to be the same as your current degree programme. Applying is possible from a bachelor’s degree to another bachelor’s degree and from a master’s degree to another master’s degree.

The transfer is possible if:
1. There are free study places in the degree programme you are applying to.
2. Your studies can be accredited for the new degree programme and you are able to graduate within the regulated study time (note for bachelor’s degree: +1 year taken into consideration).

### Degree-Specific Restrictions
* **Bachelor’s degree programme in nursing:** There are no available study places in the first year group. Anyone applying for a transfer to this degree programme must have completed at least 60 credits of nursing studies.
* **Master’s degree programme in Digital Health:** It is not possible to apply for a transfer.
* **Master’s degree requirements:** You must have a suitable background degree and, after graduation, at least 24 months of work experience from the field of the degree programme you are applying to. Please check the eligibility requirements on the [Savonia UAS website](https://www.savonia.fi).

## Application Periods
Please fill in the application form at [Studyinfo](https://studyinfo.fi).

* **1 April – 31 August:** If accepted, studies begin in the autumn term.
* **1 October – 31 December:** If accepted, studies begin in the spring term.

## Application Fee
Applicants from outside the EU, EEA, or Switzerland are required to pay an application fee. Read more information about the application fee on [Studyinfo](https://studyinfo.fi).

## Attachments
Please attach the following to your application form:
* A copy of your student certificate and transcript of records. (If your studies are available at the My Studyinfo service, you may share a link to your study information).
* A copy of your passport.
* If you have a residence permit in Finland, a copy of the residence permit card.
* A study plan: Compare the studies you have completed earlier to the curriculum of the degree programme you are applying to. Curricula can be found in the [Savonia UAS Study Guide](https://opinto-opas.savonia.fi).
* For Master’s degree applicants: Certificates proving your eligibility (suitable background degree and at least 24 months of work experience).

## Decision Process
* Applications are processed within one month of receipt.
* Applications are not handled during holidays (summer, week 10, week 42, and Christmas).
* If the transfer is possible, you will have 7 days to confirm the study place.
* Upon confirmation, Savonia UAS Student services will inform your previous institution to resign you. Ensure all uncompleted studies are registered in your study register before accepting the transfer.
* The applicant’s current study right is transferred, and the previous study right ends.

## Tuition Fees and Scholarships
Savonia UAS collects tuition fees from non-EU/EEA students in English-taught degree programmes. If obligated to pay, the transfer is only possible at the beginning of a semester.

### Scholarship Scheme
* Scholarships are deducted directly from the tuition fee.
* The tuition fee is paid in two installments. If transferring for the autumn semester, the autumn fee is paid fully; scholarships are applied to the spring semester fee.
* Scholarships are only granted for the statutory study time:
    * **Bachelor’s degrees:** 210 credits (3.5 years) or 240 credits (4 years).
    * **Master’s degrees:** 60 credits (2 years) or 90 credits (3 years).

### Humanitarian Exceptions
* Ukrainian degree students in Finland receive a full scholarship based on humanitarian reasons and need for protection upon presentation of a valid passport or ID indicating Ukrainian citizenship.

### Exemption from Tuition Fees
You are exempted from paying the tuition fee if you hold one of the following:
* Passport or identity card indicating citizenship of EU/EEA/Switzerland.
* EU blue card in Finland.
* EU Family Member’s Residence Card in Finland.
* Continuous (type A) residence permit in Finland (granted for employment, or based on family ties if the first permit was not for studies).
* EU residence permit for third-country citizens with long-term residence permit card (Type P-EU).
* Brexit residence permit card (Type SEU or P SEU).
* Permanent (type P) residence permit card in Finland.
* Residence permit based on temporary protection in Finland.

*Note: Residence permits in other EU/EEA countries are not sufficient; only Finnish residence permits are considered.*
