There are several ways to apply for degree studies at Savonia. The most common application routes are the joint application and direct application. Detailed information about each application route can be found on our application pages: [Application routes] ## Before You Submit Your Application Before completing the application form, please note a few important points: * If you are applying through the joint application or direct application route, make sure that you have a qualification that provides eligibility for higher education studies or that you will graduate by the required deadline. Also check the application page to ensure that you meet any programme-specific requirements, such as language proficiency requirements, and that you have all the required application documents ready. All required documents must be uploaded to your application. * If you are applying through the transfer application or separate application route, please read the instructions on the relevant application page carefully. * **Transfer application** is intended for applicants who already have a valid study right at a Finnish higher education institution or in another degree programme at Savonia. * **Separate application** is intended for applicants who have an unfinished higher education degree or who have completed studies through an Open University of Applied Sciences. ## Eligibility Eligibility refers to the educational qualifications required to apply for a degree programme. To be eligible for bachelor’s studies at Savonia, applicants must have completed a qualification that provides eligibility for higher education studies in the awarding country (e.g., a high school diploma, an upper general certificate of education, a higher secondary school certificate). ## One Study Place Per Term Provision According to this provision, a student may accept only one offer of admission to a study programme leading to a higher education degree in Finland in education that begins in the same academic term (1.8.−31.12. or 1.1.−31.7). This rule applies to all higher education in Finland (bachelor’s and master’s degrees awarded by Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences, and licentiate and doctoral degrees awarded by Finnish universities). The provision applies to higher education regardless of how the studies are provided. When a student accepts an offer of admission to one study programme, all other offers of admissions to other study programmes will be cancelled automatically, and the student cannot be offered another admission to other study programmes starting in the same academic term. [Read more on Studyinfo] ## The One Study Right Rule The One Study Right Rule refers to legislative changes that entered into force on 1 August 2026. Under the new legislation, a student’s existing study rights at the same or lower higher education level in Finnish higher education institutions will end, if they accept a new study right leading to a degree. The rule applies only to study rights at Finnish higher education institutions and to programmes starting on 1 January 2027 or later. The aim of these legislative changes is to provide as many people as possible with the opportunity to complete a higher education degree, particularly those who do not yet hold a degree or an existing study right.
