# Tuition fees for Master programmes - Savonia AMK

> The legislation concerning tuition fees came into effect on 1 January 2016. According to the legislation, Universities of Applied Sciences are obliged to charge tuition fees for non-EU/EEA students.

## General Information
The legislation concerning tuition fees came into effect on 1 January 2016. Universities of Applied Sciences are obliged to charge tuition fees for students who are not citizens of countries of the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA) and are starting their degree studies on 1 August 2017 or later. This legislation applies to degree programmes conducted in English.

The tuition fee is charged for each academic year and must be paid by the set date. Failure to pay the fee in time results in the inability to enroll for the academic year and the loss of the study place.

## Tuition Fees for Master Students (Starting after 1 January 2025)
*   **Annual Fee:** 10 500 euros.
*   **Payment Terms:** The fee for the 1st academic year must be paid in full at once. Early Bird pricing is not applicable.
*   **Deadlines:** It is not possible to extend the payment deadline or pay the first year's fee in installments.

## Scholarship Scheme
Savonia UAS does not grant scholarships for the 1st academic year. For subsequent years, a scholarship scheme based on study success is available.

*   **Note:** The scholarship is deducted directly from the tuition fee and is not paid to the student.
*   **Statutory Study Time:** Scholarships are only granted for the statutory study time:
    *   60 credits Master’s degree: 2 years
    *   90 credits Master’s degree: 3 years
*   **Post-Statutory Studies:** If studies continue beyond the statutory time, the fee is 10 500 € per academic year.

## Humanitarian Scholarship for Ukrainians
Savonia UAS grants a full scholarship to Ukrainian degree students in Finland based on humanitarian reasons and the need for protection. These students are exempt from tuition fees upon providing a valid passport or ID indicating Ukrainian citizenship.

## Exemption from Tuition Fees
You are exempt from tuition fees if you hold one of the following:
*   Citizenship of EU/EEA countries or Switzerland (or family members with a residence card for a family member of an EU citizen in Finland).
*   Permanent (type P) residence permit in Finland.
*   Long-term resident’s EU residence permit (type P-EU) in Finland.
*   Residence permit based on temporary protection.
*   EU Blue Card in Finland.
*   Right of residence under the withdrawal agreement (Brexit residence permit).
*   Continuous (type A) residence permit in Finland, IF granted based on employment AND the first residence permit was not granted based on studies.
*   Continuous (type A) residence permit in Finland based on family ties, IF the first residence permit of the applicant or family member was not granted based on studies.

**Important Notes:**
*   Residence permits from other EU/EEA countries are not sufficient; only Finnish residence permits are considered.
*   The permit must be valid when the study right begins (1 August).
*   If you have applied for a residence permit but have not received a decision by the tuition fee due date, you must pay the fee.
*   Tuition fees for Master studies are non-refundable under any circumstances, as the studies can be completed entirely online.
