# Separate application for immigrants - Savonia AMK

> Have you completed a preparatory programme for higher education studies for immigrants? Do you wish to continue your studies in Bachelor-level and to complete a degree?

## Overview
In the separate application for immigrants, it is now possible for you to apply for a study place at Savonia UAS. You can apply to either Finnish or English degree programmes. Your studies will begin in January 2026 or autumn 2026 depending on the degree programme.

## Eligibility Requirements
You can apply in this application if you have completed:

**A degree that gives eligibility for higher education studies, for example:**
* Vocational upper secondary qualification in Finland
* Finnish Matriculation examination
* Upper secondary degree, completed outside Finland, which gives eligibility for higher education studies in the awarding country
* Higher education degree completed in Finland or outside Finland

**AND**

* A preparatory programme for higher education studies for immigrants covering at least 30 ECTS credits in a Finnish University of Applied Sciences.

### Important Notes on Eligibility
* If you have completed a sectoral, discipline-based preparatory education (business, social and health care, or technology), you may apply only to degree programmes of the field in question.
* If you have completed a multi-disciplinary preparatory education, you may apply to any of the degree programmes.
* If you have completed the preparatory education in English, you may apply only to degree programmes conducted in English.
* If you have not completed a preparatory programme for higher education studies for immigrants in Finland, you are not eligible to apply in this application; please use the joint application instead.

## Application Periods
* **Studies starting January 2027:** 1 August 2026 – 30 November 2026
* **Studies starting autumn 2027:** 1 August 2026 – 31 July 2027

Applications are handled in the order of arrival, once a month. If study places in a programme are filled, it will no longer be possible to apply to that programme.

## Selection Criteria
Student selection is based on study success in the preparatory programme:
1. Grade average of preparatory programme studies: minimum average 2
2. Grade average of Finnish language courses (15 credits): minimum average 3
3. Mathematics grade: minimum grade 2

**Scoring:**
* Grade 5 = 5 points
* Grade 4 = 4 points
* Grade 3 = 3 points
* Grade 2 = 2 points
* Grade 1 = 0 points

If scores are tied, the selection is based on the grade average of Finnish courses, followed by a draw if necessary.

## Fees and Requirements
* **English Proficiency:** Applicants to English programmes must provide a separate English language certificate as per the requirements of the spring 2027 Joint Application.
* **Application Fee:** Non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens must pay a 100 euro application fee.
* **Tuition Fees:** Non-EU/EEA citizens studying in English-conducted programmes must pay 9,700 euros per academic year.

## The One Study Right Rule
The One Study Right Rule applies to this application (effective 1 August 2026). A student’s study rights at the same or lower level will be terminated if they accept a new study right leading to a degree.
