# Study right based on previous studies - Savonia AMK

> In case you have neglected the enrollment and lost your right to study, you can apply for renewed right to study. Get to know the application instructions to renew your right to study.

## Eligibility for Separate Application
You can apply to Savonia UAS in the separate application if you have completed previous studies in a Finnish UAS or university and if you fulfill one of the following cases. Studies may have been completed at a Finnish UAS, university, Open UAS, or Open University, but they cannot be part of a completed degree or active study right.

1. You have completed 60 ECTS for a bachelor’s degree at Savonia Open UAS (Open path studies), and you want to become a degree student.
2. You have completed 10 ECTS (60 credits’ degree) or 30 ECTS (90 credits’ degree) for a master’s degree at Savonia UAS, and you want to become a degree student.
3. You have an unfinished bachelor’s/master’s degree and you have completed all the studies missing from the degree at Savonia Open UAS. You can graduate immediately.
4. You have completed 60 ECTS or more for a bachelor’s degree at a Finnish UAS or University and are applying to become a degree student. Completed studies can be, for example, part of an unfinished bachelor’s degree.
5. You have completed 10 ECTS (60 credits’ degree) or 30 ECTS (90 credits’ degree) for a master’s degree at a Finnish UAS or University and are applying to become a degree student. Completed studies can be, for example, part of an unfinished master’s degree.

*Note: If you do not fulfill any of the above, you may apply via the Joint application period. If you have a valid degree study right at another Finnish institution and wish to transfer, please see the instructions for transfer applications.*

## Application Periods
*   **1 April – 30 September:** If accepted, studies begin in the autumn term.
*   **1 October – 28 February:** If accepted, studies begin in the spring term.

Applications are submitted via [Studyinfo](https://studyinfo.fi). Ensure all necessary attachments are ready before filling out the form.

## Application Fees
Applicants from outside the EU, EEA, or Switzerland are required to pay an application fee.
*   **Tuition Fee:** 9,700 euros per academic year.
*   **Separate Application Discount:** The fee for the 1st academic year is 7,760 euros (equivalent to the Early Bird fee).
*   **Spring Semester Start:** If starting in the spring, the fee is 3,880 euros.
*   Payment must be made within 14 days of admission.

## Decision Process
*   Applications are processed within one month of receipt.
*   Applications are not handled during holidays (weeks 10 and 42, summer, and Christmas).
*   Decisions are sent via email. If granted, you have 7 days to confirm your study place.

## Specific Requirements by Case
*   **Open UAS Path (Bachelor):** No attachments required; studies are verified via the student management system.
*   **Open UAS Path (Master):** Must submit certificates proving eligibility (suitable degree and at least 2 years of work experience). *Note: This does not apply to the Master’s degree programme in Digital Health.*
*   **Unfinished Degree (Other Institutions):** Must submit transcripts. For master's applications, proof of prior degree and 2 years of work experience is required.
*   **General Degree Studies:** You must have at least 60 credits applicable to the target degree. You must compare your studies to the current curriculum and submit a preliminary study plan with course-specific links or descriptions.

## Legislation and Health Requirements
Education in health care, social services, the humanities, physical exercise, and maritime navigation is subject to specific safety and aptitude requirements.
*   **Aptitude:** Students must possess sufficient physical, mental, and social capacity.
*   **Restrictions:** Certain criminal convictions (sexual, violent, drug-related, or crimes against children) or history of substance abuse may restrict admission.
*   **Health Status:** Applicants may be required to provide information on health status or undergo a drug test if there is suspicion of impairment during practical training.
*   **Vaccinations:** Students in health care and social services must have up-to-date vaccination coverage (e.g., measles, chicken pox, whooping cough, and annual influenza).

## Student Health Services
Degree students are entitled to services from the **Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS / YTHS)**. All degree students must pay the FSHS healthcare fee to Kela on their own initiative; no invoice will be sent.
