## About the Programme

As a Bachelor of Hospitality Management, you will be a competent and distinctive expert in the development of the tourism and hospitality industry. This bilingual degree programme is aimed at immigrants, and the study of the Finnish language has a significant role.

The programme starts in English with no Finnish language proficiency requirement. Finnish is studied throughout the programme, and the role of the Finnish language as a language of instruction increases as student skills develop. The goal is for graduates to be capable of working in the Finnish tourism and hospitality industry using the Finnish language.

## Structure of Studies

The degree consists of 210 ECTS (one academic year equals 60 ECTS/1600 hours of workload).

*   **Basic studies:** 55 ECTS
*   **Professional studies:** 90 ECTS
*   **Alternative studies:** 20 ECTS
*   **Internship(s):** 30 ECTS
*   **Thesis:** 15 ECTS

### Study Progression
*   **First Year:** Basic understanding of the industry and working life; studies in English with essential Finnish language development.
*   **Second Year:** Planning and implementing service products.
*   **Third Year:** Management skills and deepening knowledge of industry development.
*   **Capstone:** Expert thesis and professional internship.

## Thesis

The thesis is work-related and serves as a networking opportunity. It demonstrates the student's ability to independently recognize, evaluate, and solve developmental challenges. Types of theses include:
*   **Developmental project:** Product, service, or workflow development.
*   **Research-oriented project:** Research activities to solve client needs.
*   **Production:** Events, seminars, or performances.
*   **Compiled thesis:** Synthesis of projects, research, or articles.
