ObjectivesThe student is able to
- Identify and analyse personal views and attitude to substance use and abilities to work with substance abusers
- Know the legislation and regulations guiding the substance abuse work
- Identify and understand the concept of addiction as a personal, community and society issue
- Identify the need for preventive work and early intervention in the field of social work and intervene in challenges caused by addiction in order to support the well-being of individuals and families
- Know the service system for substance abusers and know how to work in multiprofessional networks
- Guide and support clients and families by using work methods and practices of substance abuse work in social sector
Content- Drugs as a social phenomenon, including knowledge of drugs and their effects
- The essential legislation, regulations and recommendations of the work with substance abusers
- Supporting people of different ages by addiction care practices
- Addiction in different life stages, forms and environments
- Substance abuse rehabilitation, services for substance abusers, referral to treatment
- Mini-intervention, work methods and practices of substance abuse work in social sector
