- knows the most common NCDs and their effect on global public health
- understands the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), their risk factors, determinants and prevention strategies
- develops specific skills in designing and evaluating prevention strategies both for communicable and NCDs.
- knows versatile communicable diseases and their effect to global public health
- understands the communicable diseases as public health threats
- has ability to define and describe public health disasters and emergencies that
- may trigger implementation of an emergency response plan (epidemiology?)
- identifies surveillance data needs for risk assessments of public health threats caused by communicable diseases
- understands of the burden of communicable diseases, their risk factors, determinants and prevention strategies
Content- different kind of communicable diseases (vaccine-preventable diseases, sexually transmitted diseases, food-borne diseases, tuberculosis, healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial resistance)
- different kind of NCDs (e.g. cardiovascular diseases, cancers, respiratory diseases, diabetes, mental disorders)
- burden of communicable diseases and NCDs and their risk factors
- communicable diseases and NCDs prevention strategies and their development
- implementation and capacity building with individuals, communities and -systems for communicable NCD prevention
- evaluation of population-level health interventions
- advocacy and the role of the various actors in NCD prevention
