ObjectivesThe student is able to
-explain the mechanism of disorder formation in vital functions and draw conclusions on the changes they cause in the body
-analyse and interpret the information on a patient’s condition he or she receives from various sources
-plan, implement, and assess acute care for patients of different ages in different nursing environments
-explain the pharmacodynamics of the medication and fluids used in acute and intensive care and the safety of their use
-assess the relatives’ need for support and mentor them
-apply research based information to the nursing and rehabilitation of patients and develop acute and intensive nursing care on the basis of researched information and recommendations
-work in multi-professional cooperation in the critical path of an acute patient
ContentAssessing the need for acute care, triage, the most important acute care situations of patients of different ages , basic ECG interpretation, medications used in acute care, mentoring acute patients of different ages and their relatives, an elderly patient in the emergency department, multi-professional co-operation with paramedics from outside the hospital, ethical principles in intensive care, identifying a critically ill patient, NEWS scoring, respiratory insufficiency, circulatory insufficiency, neuro intensive care, intensive care patients of different ages and their relatives, rehabilitation of an intensive care patient, fluid therapy and medication, mentoring an intensive care patient, MET operations and cooperation in different environments, patient safety in intensive care, development of acute and intensive care nursing.
