Course Description
Code | 4 EYX8010 |
Name | Advanced Course in Water Supply and Wastewater Engineering |
Credits | 5 ects |
Objectives | The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the general plan level of water supply. The core part of the course is the general functional design of the water supply network using a computer. The issues to be considered in this case are the structure and operation of the water supply network, the structure and operation of the sewerage network and the structure and operation of the stormwater network. The dimensioning and functional analysis of the networks is done with modeling programs (EPANET, SWMM). The general plan is presented as an AutoCAD drawing, plan description and cost calculation. |
Content | Structure of the regional water supply system Network alignment planning and calculation of water supply network design volumes (ACAD + Excel) Modeling the water supply network (Epanet) Location and modeling of pumping stations (Sewage pumping stations, booster stations) Computer Aided Sewer Design (SWMM) Computer aided design of a stormwater system (SWMM) Preparation of cost estimate and preparation of general plan report (Excel + word) |
Requirements | Completion of the course includes lectures and planning exercises. In order to complete the course, the student must participate in the completion of class exercises, return planning exercises and pass the exam. Learning is made into a portfolio. Flexible learning is supported by eLearning, such as video recording of lessons and the Moodle learning environment. |
Grading Scale | 0 - 5 |
Course material | Moodle, e-textbook |
Prerequisites | Basics of Water Supply and Wastewater Engineering |
Other Considerations | The main language of instruction for the course may also be English. Evaluation criteria: Satisfactory (1-2): - Is able to design a regional water supply network and to use software under guidance. Good (3-4): - Is able to independently determine the realistic implementation of the regional water supply network, and to plan and evaluate the operation of the network at the master plan level. Commendable (5): - In addition to the previous section, the student can independently define, plan and solve even demanding entities related to the topic of the course. - Masters the topic in depth and is able to apply, understanding the underlying laws of physics. |
