| Objectives | The student becomes familiar with the background and phenomena of contemporary Finnish and international architecture. He or she understands the relation between architectural design and contemporary culture and society. The student also understands the methods used in contemporary architectural design and the trends in architectural thinking. He or she becomes familiar with the materials and structure qualities of contemporary architecture and can apply them correctly in his or her own design. The student understands the overall management of the visual environment in architectural design concerning eg interior and landscape design. |

| Requirements | The theoretical content of this course is presented in the introduction lectures. Students make a presentation and a literal study about the subjects concerning contemporary architecture. Presentations are shown in a seminar. Contemporary architecture is linked with fine arts in this course. Students create an art project which has a connection to their Architecture 5 project. There is an open exhibition of art projects in the end of the course. Students present their art projects. Requirements in the course: literal study (Moodle), seminar presentation (Moodle), art project, participation to exhibition, minimum 75% participation to lectures. Study material is mostly in English and language used in the course is English. |
