Basics of the roaming service at Savonia University of Applied Sciences
The purpose of the roaming service is that employees and students can login with their own eduroam-username to their local wireless network, visiting other universities or research institutes
Instructions for the roaming service
Visiting computers not owned by Savonia
Visitor network ID is eduroam ( SSID = eduroamweb ). Currently Savonia uses Web Authentication which allows the visitors to use the network when opening the web browser. After opening the web browser it will display the login page. On this page you enter your eduroam-username user@organisation.country as well as the password. Savonia eduroam-user names are the person's primary e-mail replicas (firstname.surname@student.savonia.fi, firstname.surname@affiliate.savonia.fi or firstname.surname@savonia.fi ). After clicking the login button the system checks access rights and opens the network.
Roaming service user names
There is a service of its own for changing the Savonia eduroam-username's password. You can change it at
https://apps.savonia.fi/password/pwdeduroam/
and the page is also accessible from outside of Savonia. You can also change the password for the temporary and partner eduroam-usernames. Reset
only works for the Savonia campus user names.
The covering area of the roaming service
Network is accessible in Kuopio at Opistontie -, Microkatu -, Sairaalakatu - and Piispakatu campuses and in Iisalmi at Haukisaarentie campus.
