Savonia UAS Environment Engineering Unit widen its international cooperation by being part of the EU funded project AMBITIOUS, starting on October 2023 and lasting for 3 years. The project AMBITIOUS aims to advance the state of the art in AI, 5G and IoT and to promote interregional collaboration and commercialization.  

Together with a strong consortium involving different regions from Finland, Sweden, Italy, Greece and Netherlands, partners support SMEs interregional innovation projects in their commercialization and scaleup phases.

The project aims to push the boundaries of innovation and drive progress in sectors identified as strategically important in the smart specialization priorities of the participating regions, such as information and communication technology (ICT), environment, agriculture, and health.

Savonia UAS collaborates with its expertise in Smart Water Management, one of the North Savo Smart Specialization priorities. To support cities and property owners with the challenges of climate events such as sudden storms and floods, AMBITIOUS aims to develop a IoT based flood prediction system. The project explores digital solutions using artificial intelligence (AI) embedded in sensors, climate data from different sources and the benefits of 5G, a wireless network that allows low latencies. Savonia UAS offers the WaterLAB facilities to pilot the developed solutions and is equipped to provide representative datasets for testing and validating software and hardware solutions.

Funlus Oy is an agile  IT services company (SME) established in 2008, specializes in digital transformation, application development, communication solutions, web development, and hosting services. Funlus contributions to the project focus on the provision of a straightforward IoT system designed for monitoring and predicting urban flood scenarios.

AMBITIOUS project team is open for collaboration to explore the possibilities that new technologies brings to the economic development of the region.
