Students gathered in Kuopio Market Square to kick off the academic year
Despite the rainy weather, students gathered in Kuopio Market Square to kick off the academic year at the traditional LoveZone academic year opening event. As always, the atmosphere was warm and filled with joyful encounters, and the day’s performer, Sara Bee, certainly brought extra warmth and energy to the crowd. This year also marked a special milestone, as the event was celebrated for the first time on Kuopio’s new Market Square stage.
LoveZone is a joint initiative of the educational institutions in the Savilahti campus area of Kuopio, promoting caring, well-being, and a sense of community. Its message reminds us to look after one another. The event began in Savilahti, where students gathered before making their way to the Market Square as part of a shared procession.
At the Market Square, opening remarks for the academic year were delivered by Anton Jääskeläinen, Chair of the Board of the Student Union Salkku; Janina Gunnar, Chair of the Representative Council of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland; and Tiina Landén, Chair of the Board of the Student Union SAVOTTA.
The academic year opening event was organized in collaboration by Savo Vocational College, Savonia University of Applied Sciences, the University of Eastern Finland, Student Union Salkku, Student Union SAVOTTA, and the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY).
