| Description | The health and welfare sector in Finland cannot maintain its current level of service without innovative and extensive utilization of new technologies. The aging population, increasing risk of social exclusion, deteriorating general health, and rising mental health issues, combined with financial and workforce shortages, demand a radical change in operations. One promising solution identified is the Metaverse, an immersive, three-dimensional, and multisensory digital environment. The Metaverse can add value cost-effectively due to its good scalability, enabling both healthy people and a healthy economy. These solutions leverage technologies such as Extended Reality (XR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Wearable Technology (WT), with key elements being three-dimensional virtual worlds, avatars, virtual objects, and digital twins.
The project involves 6-10 pilot organizations that have identified needs and challenges, which are also recognized more broadly. The aim is to build comprehensive solutions that benefit those operating in the health sector on a societal level through these needs. |
