DescriptionThe objective of the project is to strengthen cooperation between Finnish universities of applied sciences (UAS) offering education in the field of natural resources. Climate change, food security, and the declining appeal of the sector pose significant challenges for education. There is an urgent need for flexible, multidisciplinary training solutions. The project is coordinated by Savonia UAS and involves eight other Finnish-speaking UAS institutions in the field. The primary target group includes teaching and RDI staff, with participation also from advisors, experts, teachers, and industry associations.

The project addresses skills shortages, fragmented education offerings, and weak attractiveness of the sector by developing new collaborative models, identifying training needs, and integrating RDI project outcomes into continuous learning curricula. The goal is to produce sustainable and scalable operating models for nationwide use.

The project actions are organized into four work packages (WP):
WP1 creates a systematic approach to collecting training needs in the sector by involving vocational education institutions, industry networks, companies and stakeholders. Electronic surveys and discussion groups on the AgriHub network platform are used for the collection.

WP2 develops new operating models and tools for the network's joint development of continuous learning training offerings through training days, workshops and electronic environments. At the same time, new training and learning methods are also introduced.

WP3 focuses on strengthening the visibility of continuous learning products. In addition, new operating models are learned that emphasize the importance of the natural resource sector through sustainability, security of supply and food security.

WP4 focuses on project management and communication.

The project will result in new cooperation models and implementation methods for collecting continuous learning training needs and planning training courses in cooperation with the natural resource sector network. The operating models are used to identify, collect and share competence needs for continuous learning. The operating models will remain in permanent use in educational institutions and will be further developed under the guidance of Arene's natural resources working group and in industry networks. The implementation of the operating models involves cooperation with research, development, advisory and advocacy organizations in the field, as well as employment areas. The project supports the continuity of sector-specific expertise, increases the visibility and accessibility of continuing education, and promotes a stronger public image of the natural resources sector. Results and tools will be published on the project website and disseminated via blogs and events.
