MultiPro One Welfare concept

MultiPro One Welfare highlights the interconnected well-being of humans, animals, and the environment – its three core pillars. The programme is open to all students who are eager to collaborate in an international setting, contribute their own subject expertise, and deepen their understanding of the One Welfare approach. While the natural focus is on students from agriculture, environmental sciences, veterinary, food technology, social services and nursing, we warmly welcome participants from all fields.

MultiPro offers a unique opportunity to grow your international professional network – many connections made during the programme turn into lasting friendships and meaningful collaborations. Savonia is known for its balanced blend of theory and practical learning. During the programme, you’ll take part in on-site visits, hands-on tasks that run alongside theoretical studies, and inspiring excursions. By the end of the 90 days, you will have broadened your perspective on One Welfare, strengthened both individual and teamwork skills, learned to navigate complex discussions on welfare-related issues, and gained confidence in working in international environments.

Teaching methods

Teaching methods include lectures, teamwork and projects. MultiPro can also include a traineeship / placement period. The students present the results of their learning outcomes in the MultiPro final seminar. Savonia uses Moodle as an eLearning platform in teaching and communication. Several other digital tools are used, too.

Tutor students

At Savonia’s Iisalmi Campus, student life goes beyond the classroom! Two active student organisations, SAITO and SAIMO, are here to help you feel welcome and included from day one. SAITO represents students from the School of Natural Resources, while SAIMO supports students from the School of Health and Social Services. Both organisations organise fun events, trips, theme days, and activities that bring students together and create a great community spirit. Whether you’re looking to make new friends, explore Finnish culture, or just have a good time during your exchange, SAITO and SAIMO are here for you!

Accommodation

Savonia does not have a student dormitory. You can rent a flat or a room from private companies or flat owners. Please stay in touch with us (Agnieszka Laherto) as we will assist you in the process.

Iisalmi town

Welcome to Iisalmi, a lively town of about 20,000 people in the heart of Finnish Lakeland – where nature, culture, and adventure come together! Don’t be fooled by the size – Iisalmi is full of surprises.

Did you know it’s home to the smallest restaurant in the world? You’ll also get a chance to chase the magical Northern Lights during the darker months – an unforgettable bucket-list moment! Here, your daily routine might include a refreshing dip in a frozen lake (yes, it’s a thing – and yes, you’ll love it after the sauna!). It’s a true Finnish experience that leaves you feeling energized and connected to nature. Beyond that, you can enjoy cozy cafés, lively student events, live music, and cool bars where making new friends is easy. Whether you’re exploring snowy trails in winter or relaxing by the lakeside in summer, Iisalmi offers the perfect balance of adventure and chill vibes.
