Decision on application
Your application form will be processed within one month from receiving it. Please follow your email as you may be asked for more information to support your application. Please note, that applications will not be handled during holidays (weeks 10 and 42, summer and Christmas time).
The decision is sent to you by email. In case the study right is granted, you will have 7 days’ time to confirm the study place. In case the study right cannot be granted, you will be informed about the decision by e-mail.
This separate application is included in the one study place per term provision. If you are eligible to apply in this application and if you will be granted the study place, you cannot accept another study place leading to a higher education degree in Finland during the same academic term.
Please read more about the one study place per term provision.
The one study right rule refers to the legislative amendments that entered into force on 1 August 2026. Under these amendments, a student’s study rights at the same or lower level will be terminated if they accept a new study right leading to a degree.
The one-study-right rule applies to application rounds that begin after 1 August 2026 and in which students are admitted to programmes starting on or after 1 January 2027.
The provisions are not retroactive: if a student has multiple study rights when the law enters into force, they do not need to give them up. The new provisions do not automatically terminate a student’s existing study rights. A student’s previous study rights will only be terminated when they accept a new study place after the legislation has entered into force. This also applies to study rights that were granted before the legislation entered into force.
The rule applies only to study rights at Finnish higher education institutions.
The aim of the legislative changes is to provide the opportunity to complete a higher education degree to as many people as possible who do not yet have a degree or a previous study right.
You can read more about the one study right rule on Studyinfo.
Legislation relating to aptitude in the field of health care and social services
Legislation applies to education leading to a degree in applied sciences in the field of health care and social services, the humanities, physical exercise and maritime navigation. These fields have requirements concerning the safety of minors, patient and customer safety or traffic safety which restrict student admission.
In the field of health care and social services the studies include working with customer groups requiring special protection, in which case ethical requirements and requirements for patient or customer safety are crucial. The health and functional capacity of students shall be such that they are capable of performing assignments and practical training related to their studies.
Those applying to the field should bear in mind that:
Applicants are required to provide information concerning their health status and functional capacity as required to assess admission at the request of the university of applied sciences concerned, as well as information on any possible prior decision on cancellation of their study entitlement.
Students are required to produce an extract from criminal records at the request of the university of applied sciences if working with minors forms an essential part of the tasks assigned to them during their studies or work placement periods that are part of their studies.
Universities of applied sciences are entitled to require a student to produce a certificate of a drugs test if there is any reason to suspect that the student is under the influence of drugs during practical assignments or during a work placement that is part of their studies, or that the student is addicted to drugs.
Savonia UAS collects tuition fees from non EU/EEA students. The tuition fee is 9700 euros per academic year.
If you are obligated to pay the tuition fee, please note that the study right can only be granted from the beginning of the next academic semester, because it is not possible to split the tuition fee for less than one semester.
In the Separate application, the tuition fee for the 1st academic year is the same as Early Bird tuition fee in the Joint application, 7760 euros.
If your study right starts from the beginning of the spring semester, you will be charged half of the Early Bird tuition fee, 3880 euros.
The tuition fee for the 1st academic year / semester must be paid within 14 days of being admitted to Savonia UAS.
If you are obligated to pay the tuition fee, you will receive instructions on how to pay the tuition fee.

All present degree students (Bachelor, Master) must pay the FSHS healthcare fee to Kela. Please note! You will not be sent an invoice to pay the FSHS fee, but you have to make the payment on your own initiative.
You will find the payment instructions on Kela website.
