| Description | The main goal of the project is to increase the know-how on insect economy in Northern Savo region, to create new
demand for insects and insect products and to develop sustainable and economical insect production chains. During the project the know-how of sustainable and economical insect economy is confirmed, the operators interested in insect economy are gathered together and development workshops are arranged by the local learning and research institutes. The demand for the insect and insect products is generated among food processors, catering sector, pet shops as well as pet food and animal feed industry. Different growing and feeding experiments and laboratory tests are made in order to develop the insect economy. The use of insects for processing biomass of different branch currents from food industry, agriculture and forest industry is examined. The consumers are also informed about insects as a new foodstuff. |
