Objectives | Upon completing the course, the student - knows the concepts of clinical histology and cytology and the basics of the studies - understands histological and cytological laboratory tests as part of patient care - can evaluate the validity and reliability of the sample - knows the histological and cytological sampling process and the various work stages - can define and recognise the most typical tissues as well as histological and cytological cells - can work safely and well in a histological and cytological laboratory |
Content | - histo-cytological concepts - cytological sample types and sampling process - processing of the cytological samples in laboratory (e.g. fixation, cytocentrifuge, stainings, microscopy) - histological sample types and sampling process - processing of the histological samples in laboratory (etc. fixation, dissection, embedding, microtomia, stainings, microscopy) - introduction to new technologies in clinical pathology laboratory - occupational safety - quality assurance Content of practice: - histological process (dissection, embedding, sectioning, staining) - cytological process |
