| Objectives | The student -can apply ethical guidelines and legislation in various nursing situations and environments -develops his or her nursing skills in various nursing environments -promotes patient safety at all stages of the nursing process -utilises electronic health care services in the patient’s nursing care process -focuses on client-orientation and considers the patient’s resources and needs in different nursing and mentoring situations and represents the patient and nursing care in different teams -masters the most common administration routes of medication, education of medication and the effectiveness of the used medicaments, side effects, adverse reactions and drug interactions -is aware of the contingency plans concerning special situations in health care and exceptional conditions in Finland -can work as a nurse in a resuscitation situation and manage and lead resuscitation events -has skills and knowledge needed for Nurse’s core competences (180 Ects) national exam. |

| Requirements | Internship in different nursing environments in accordance with separate instructions. The internship can also be completed during international exchange or by utilising work experience gained through employment (alternative method of completion: a substitute nurse job, see instructions at Savonia Supervised internship website). The internship credits cannot be transferred afterwards on the basis of prior work experience.Simulation, skills workshop and competence demonstration. Simulations, skills workshops and assignments. Vaccination expertise. Patient safety- online course and an exam. Health care in exceptional conditions: online course and an exam. First aid and Resuscitation skills workshops and demonstrations. | Prerequisites | Compulsory professional studies scheduled for the previous semesters in the curriculum must be completed, but this course can be completed before Paediatric and Family Nursing Practice course (Additionally, simulations of Paediatric and Family Nursing Practice course must be completed). Theory studies of Gerontological Nursing and Home Care Services must be ongoing according to student´s own group curriculum. Gerontological Nursing and Home Care Services Practice must be completed. Developing Nursing Competencies internship can be completed before the course’s simulations and skill labs. |
