ObjectivesThe student masters the dimensioning and stiffening of the structures of wooden frame apartment buildings.
Content- Use of wood in apartment building construction, architecture, building physics, fire safety, sound insulation
- Building technology, energy and resource efficiency, carbon footprint, wood surface treatment, maintenance and service
- Construction of a wooden apartment building, construction site technology

Structural calculations for wooden apartment buildings:
- Wooden apartment building frame operation, frame systems
- Function of structures assembled from elements as stiffening and load-bearing structures, dimensioning of anchoring of stiffening walls
- Dimensioning of frame structures, dimensioning of frame, CLT and LVL structures

Connection techniques:
- Application of pin connection theory
- Screw and angle plate connections
- Joints between CLT and LVL structures
- computer program: FemDesign3dStructure program
RequirementsThe course includes theory, calculation lessons and individual assignments. In learning, the emphasis is on the student's voluntary work in supervised calculation lessons and distance learning. Calculation examples are from the core competence areas of the degree program. In addition to lectures and exercises, the course includes compulsory assignments.
