You will gain skills in managing the design process, visual communication, production techniques, and emerging technologies, while developing versatility across products, services, processes, and interactions. Bachelor Degrees
The Design degree programme leads to a Bachelor of Culture and Arts.
The programme comprises 240 ECTS credits and is typically completed in four years.
The majority of the studies are conducted in Finnish.

Jewellery Design
Jewellery Design
Jewellery Design track provides skills in designing and producing different kinds of jewellery, including working with precious metals. Students learn to turn user insights into aesthetically appealing and functional products suitable for unique, small-series, or industrial production.

Fashion Design
Fashion Design
Fashion Design track provides students with hands-on skills to create wearable products with a focus on sustainable fashion and circular design. Students learn to design both individual garments and collections, gaining experience in ideation, concept creation, material technologies and techniques, while integrating meaningful, user-centred design that considers cultural, social, and environmental factors.

Industrial Design
Industrial design
Industrial design training provides the skills to design consumer products and technical equipment. Industrial designers develop manufactured products in a sustainable and future-oriented way. With design expertise, students can apply end-user insights in collaboration with other specialists. Professional skills are emphasized in ideation and prototyping, systems and design thinking, concept creation, scenario methods, and 3D design.

Service Design
Service Design
Service design is an innovative, and multidisciplinary approach aimed at improving customer experience. It combines elements of design thinking, business design, often through participatory methods and real projects. Students gain experience in scenario planning, concept development and visual communication.

Interior Architecture and Furniture Design
Interior Architecture and Furniture Design
This track provides the skills needed for interior and space design. Studies focus on public and commercial spaces, care and learning environments and interior finishes. Students work on diverse projects and gain experience collaborating with peers and professionals from different fields.

Mutka ry
Mutka ry is the student association of design students at Savonia University of Applied Sciences in Kuopio. The association represents students’ interests and promotes their wellbeing and rights. Mutka also organizes activities and events beyond academic studies.
