DescriptionSavonia University of Applied Sciences, University of Eastern Finland, City of Kuopio and Kuopio Region Chamber of Commerce are developing North Savo Talent Hub, which aims to promote employment of international higher education students into companies and other organizations suffering from a shortage of skilled labour. According to research, up to half of foreign students would like to stay in Finland, but a much smaller proportion of them find a job that matches their education and expertise. The aim of the North Savo Talent Hub is to find ways to get a significantly larger share of international students to work for companies and organizations in the region. In addition, the aim is to attract significantly more international higher education students to our region.

The main qualitative goal of the project is to launch the Talent Hub activities in the Northern Savo region, focusing on 1) the employment of international students, 2) the development of skills, service and career paths, and 3) the construction of coordinated network activities (incl. authorities and projects). This work will be done through four work packages:
1) Developing the encounter of international experts and companies
2) Promoting the integration of international experts into Finnish society
3) Planning and forming service paths for international experts
4) Attracting international experts (students, researchers, staff) to North Savo

As a result of the project, significantly more international higher education graduates will be employed in North Savo. The students are better equipped to look for work in Finnish companies and to become equal members of the work community. The labour shortage of companies in North Savo will be alleviated, as it will be easier to find, recruit and hire international experts. The activities developed in the project will become the day-to-day operations of the region's higher education institutes, city, authorities and companies, so that the match between skills and the workforce can be ensured in the future as well.
