How to Apply for an Internship in Health Care
Students in the following fields are welcome to apply for an internship at Savonia University of Applied Sciences:
- Nursing
- Midwifery
- Public Health Nursing
- Physiotherapy
- Biomedical Laboratory Sciences
- Radiography
- Oral Hygiene
If you are interested in completing an internship in health care at Savonia, please follow the steps below.
Step 1: Send Your Motivation Letter
First, send your motivation letter to the International Coordinator of the School of Health Care .

Your Motivation Letter Should Include
Please include the following information in your letter:
- your study programme and your current year of study
- your plans for the exchange:
- clinical internship and/or theoretical studies
- estimated ECTS credits for each part

- preferred timing of your exchange
- your previous clinical experience
- your learning goals and what you would like to achieve during your internship in Finland
Important Information
- The number of internship placements is limited, and unfortunately, we cannot guarantee placements for all applicants.
- All applications will be reviewed after the application deadline. After that, each degree programme will begin exploring possible internship placements according to the students’ preferences, learning goals, and the availability of suitable internship placements.
- We will inform all applicants about the selection results, including students who were not selected:
- during the first week of November for spring semester internships
- during the first week of April for autumn semester internships
- After Savonia has found a suitable internship placement for you, your International Coordinator will contact you.
Application Deadlines
- 31 March for the autumn semester
- 28 September for the spring semester
You can complete the Mobility-Online application only after we have informed you that your internship placement and schedule have been confirmed.

How to Apply: Exchange Studies in the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Nursing
The application process is the same as for clinical internships above.

Please note:
- Course availability may vary each semester. Please select courses that are offered during the same semester.
- Clinical internship placements are limited, but we can offer simulation studies related to each theory course at campus and if suitable placements are available, we may also be able to offer a clinical internship as part of your exchange studies.
