Objectives | The student • explains the concepts and process of orthodontics • identifies deviations from normal occlusion • is familiar with the orthodontic materials, devices and instruments • explains oral health check-up related to orthodontics • takes the initial mold and uses the impression making materials • uses photography in care needs planning • etches and cements a palatal or lingual arch • bonds a retention arch • provides counselling for an orthodontic patient and the family at different stages of the process • identifies factors negatively affecting the masticatory system • identifies the symptoms of occlusal dysfunction • assesses the need for follow-up care • masters physiotherapeutic dysfunction treatment methods |
