Development of Expertise

In Savonia's curricula, the courses form broader study modules. In this way, they support the overall development of the student and the development of expertise. At the same time, it is possible to combine teaching and work-based research and development.

The Environmental Engineering Curriculum is designed to
• the degree produces the skills required in working life
• education ensures the development of the student's expertise.

Student
• prepares a personal study plan to support his / her studies (includes at least 5 credits of studying in a foreign language), in which previously acquired competence is also identified
• is responsible for the progress of his / her studies.

Savonia teachers and other staff guide and support in defining and achieving personal goals.
The curriculum for environmental technology is progressing according to annual themes. At the same time, the student's professional competence is strengthened towards expertise. The annual themes of the studies are presented in the table below. From the spring of the third year, the student can specialize by choosing study modules from the available advanced courses in water supply, environmental protection, environmental monitoring and infrastructure construction. The student also has the opportunity to complete a double degree (“Double Degree” degree), which includes one year of study (60 cr) at a German (energy production bioprocesses) or Chinese partner university.
