A virtuoso of nets – in Badminton and Information Technology
Ahsan Lemon won the Finnish Student Championships in badmington in the spring, representing Savonia.
“I often think of life as being a bit like a shuttlecock: sometimes you’re soaring high, sometimes you’re down low, but both movements matter if you want to keep scoring points.” describes Ahsan Lemon his attitude towards badminton and life. He graduated from Savonia in 2024.
Lemon successfully represented Savonia at the Finnish Student Championships. These are national championships for university students, with thousands of students from universities of applied sciences and universities across Finland participating.

Lemon won gold in the Singles Badmington. At the international SELL Student Games, he won the men’s Doubles together with Lauri Helminen.
The badminton champion says he has been playing for 12 years now.
“Back in Bangladesh, I used to play mostly during the winter months. It started off as a seasonal hobby, but once I moved to Finland, things changed. The winter here lasts much longer, so I joined Savon Sulka and began playing. Gradually, I started joining local and national-level tournaments in the MS and MD categories, and when I began winning medals in national competitions around the Pohjois-Savo area, my confidence grew a lot. Over time, badminton has become more than just a sport for me; it’s a way to stay grounded and focused in life.”
Studying in an international environment
Lemon graduated from Savonia University of Applied Sciences with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Information Technology (Internet of Things).
– I chose Savonia because it offered something truly unique: the opportunity to study the Internet of Things (IoT). The teachers were supportive, the environment was highly international, and the learning approach was practical and hands-on. It wasn’t limited to theory; we focused on developing real-world solutions, which helped me grow both technically and personally.

He is open to new career opportunities in the field of IT technology. He also has plans for sports:
“In terms of sports, I want to keep playing and competing in Finnish national tournaments, and possibly explore coaching or mentoring in the future. My playing style is fast, strategic, and quite adaptable. My strengths lie in quick reflexes and staying calm under pressure.”
Good qualities both in gaming and in working life.
