Mustaan takkiin pukeutunut nainen istuu puisella penkillä rauhallisen järven rannalla ja katsoo olkansa yli. Hänen takanaan syksyiset puut ja kelluva pato ulottuvat veden yli pilvisen taivaan alla.

From Nepal to Savonia: My Journey into International Business

Sujana’s Story

I am Sujana from Nepal. I am in my final year of my bachelor’s degree program. I joined Savonia in autumn 2023 as an international business student.

I have always been interested in how people collaborate, how businesses operate in other nations, and how teams might be more hospitable and encouraging in Nepal. I became interested in international business because of this curiosity, and Savonia’s practical experiences and global atmosphere seemed like the ideal fit. I did not want to study only theoretical knowledge; I wanted something more connected with practice, international, and people-oriented. This sparked my interest in International Business. I was attracted to Savonia’s pedagogical approach, an international business degree program that will involve real-world, hands-on projects on topics that genuinely interest me, such as HR, workplace well-being, and digital marketing.

I was drawn to international business because I wanted to understand the human tales that underlie a company as well as its technical aspects. The hands-on approach of Savonia seemed like a suitable place for me to start. Learning at Savonia results from completing real projects rather than just reading theory. We delve into quite different subjects such as marketing, HR, logistics, hospitality, and workplace well-being; therefore, there is always something new to discover. I can say that, as a result, it almost becomes a cycle of learning new skills while simultaneously refining the old ones with the different people that you meet. Problem-solving, idea sharing, and becoming more conversant with various group dynamics and methods of collaboration are what you are doing.

The vibe here, plus the help from the teachers and tutors, really keeps you going to be independent, take your own initiative, and develop in a way that is personal. These experiences have been instrumental in building my confidence and have also given me a much clearer idea of my potential when I look into the future. Student life in Savonia is filled with opportunities to make connections and grow. Events such as international evenings, cultural workshops, and student events play a vital role in meeting people from diverse cultural backgrounds; these experiences helped ease the transition to the Finnish lifestyle and enjoy this serene way of living.

I am excited about a global marketing position or a startup decision to make after graduation, where I can employ my creativity, communication skills, and international experience. The idea of supporting companies in their cross-border growth and contacting people from diverse cultures excites me the most. Moreover, I am willing to accept any challenge in other countries and continue my learning process as far as different working methods are concerned. The period I spent in Savonia was an excellent launchpad for me, and I had the courage to follow my dreams.

One thing I would suggest to newcomers is to keep being curious and do not hesitate to be the first one to try a new experience. University life is not about going through the routine of classes and exams and, at the end, getting a degree; it is also about discovering yourself and preparing for your future.
