Studying Tourism and Hospitality Management at Savonia

I chose Savonia University because of its friendly environment and high level of education. I have always been interested in tourism and hospitality because I enjoy meeting people, learning about different cultures, and helping others have good experiences while traveling. I knew that Savonia would give me the practical skills and international experience I need for my future career.

Studying at Savonia is really awesome! The teachers and staff are very friendly, helpful and supportive. The classes are interesting, and we study subjects such as customer service, tourism marketing, event management, business communication, and Finnish language. As students, we are expected to be active, responsible, and ready to work in teams. I really enjoy the balance between theory and practical learning.

At first, moving to Finland was a big change for me. The weather was very different from Sri Lanka, and I had to get used to a new culture. But the people here are very kind, and Savonia helped me feel comfortable and welcome. I made many international friends and learned to enjoy Finnish traditions and nature. Now, I can truly say that I am happy and grateful to have chosen Finland and Savonia University. It has been one of the best decisions of my life.

After graduation, I plan to work in the international tourism and hospitality field. I want to use my knowledge to promote sustainable tourism and share the beauty of different cultures with the world.

My advice for future students is to be open-minded and positive. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, make friends, and take part in different activities. Studying at Savonia is not only about learning — it’s also about growing as a person and enjoying new experiences. I am truly proud and thankful to be part of this wonderful university!
