Sharing Practice, Sparking Ideas – The Savonia International Teacher & Staff Week 2026
The Savonia International Teacher & Staff Week 2026 theme highlights the importance of preparing both students and lifelong learners for the rapidly evolving world of work through practical, relevant, and future-focused multidisciplinary education. The week’s programme explored learning methods and environments that strengthen preparedness for diverse and dynamic work-life situations.
The event brought together 11 representatives from EU4DUAL partner institutions, alongside colleagues from other European and international universities, a total of 46. Participants valued the opportunity to connect with peers from across Europe and beyond. As one attendee reflected:
“The most valuable part of the week was the interaction and exchange of ideas with colleagues from different countries and cultures. It was highly enriching to learn about diverse perspectives and approaches.”
Others highlighted the benefits of collaborative and informal settings:
“Through open discussions and informal conversations, we were able to share concrete examples from our daily work, reflect on different approaches, and generate new ideas.”

During the International Week, sessions addressed themes that are central to the work of EU4DUAL, particularly the development of practice-oriented higher education. Discussions included entrepreneurial and multidisciplinary learning, exploring how cooperation across study fields and with external partners can strengthen practical learning in line with EU4DUAL’s approach to integrating academic study and working life. Topics such as future skills and curriculum development considered how higher education institutions can respond to evolving competence needs and align study programmes with changing labour market demands.
Sessions on digital tools and innovative pedagogy highlighted AI-supported methods and other digital learning approaches, while also acknowledging the challenges educators face with the rapidly increasing use of AI tools by learners. Discussions on health, wellbeing, and interdisciplinary practice examined cooperation between professions and sectors, underlining the importance of applied learning environments as is promoted within EU4DUAL. Project development and international cooperation further supported networking and collaboration among partners, strengthening connections across the alliance.
The week combined structured sessions with group discussions, networking, and Finnish cultural experiences such as sauna and ice swimming. These exchanges focused on strategies to help students develop transferable skills, adaptability, and practical experience, preparing them for dynamic and diverse work-life situations.
Overall, the week offered inspiration and practical insights that resonate with EU4DUAL’s commitment to future-focused, work-life oriented learning and support participating institutions in preparing their students for tomorrow’s challenges.
