Savonia Stage: PathMate – Automated Welding
This pilot demonstrates the capabilities of PathMate in controlling a Cobot arm in a welding environment.
The work was carried out as a collaboration between the ”Automaatio ja tekoäly tiedoksi” (AuToTIE) and HitLeap project.
PathMate is a device used for making automated welding an easier process. It allows users to create full welding programs with minimal technical skills. PathMate is built using the M5-Dial (which uses an ESP32 microcontroller), and it works in unison with the ABB GoFa 15000. On top of the welding program, PathMate enables you to configure different settings of the welding machine. Due its simple nature, PathMate shows great scalability for adding more features. The goal of creating such a device is to make welding a more accessible process.
