- has profound knowledge of the basic components of the genetic code and understands the structure and the functions as well as the mechanisms of passing on the genetic function and the protein synthesis as a result of the translation of the genetic information
- knows the causes of the development of genetic diseases, can explain the main methods and applications of molecular biology and cytogenetics
- knows clinical laboratory process in the field of molecular biology
- knows main techniques are used in molecular biology (e.g. PCR, RT-PCR, purification of nucleic acid) and how those technologies are used in analytics
- knows the national and international legislation related to the topic
- can define the ethical problems related to molecular biology and gene technology
- understands how molecular biology is used human gene therapy
